Description

The Fluffy Ruffle Fern is a great plant for those who are looking for a smaller full, thick foliage fern. Its short 12″ fronds are stiffly upright with overlapping ruffled pinnae (leaflets), which create a fluffy appearance. LIGHT Place your fern where it is exposed to filtered or indirect sunlight. Near a window covered with a sheer curtain to filter the light, or a few feet away from a sunny window would be perfect and make your Fluffy Ruffle quite happy. Avoid placing the plant directly in front of a hot, sunny window, especially during summer. Your fern won't like too much heat or sun. WATERING When watering, water your fern until water drips through the drainage hole, and then discard water remaining in the drainage saucer. Water only when the surface of the soil feels dry, as the soil should never be either soggy or bone dry. Water your Fluffy Ruffle fern with room temperature water. Did you know the fern is a tropical plant and cold water may damage the roots? FERTILIZER Fertilize your Fluffy Ruffle fern once every month between April and September, and once every other month during the remainder of the year. This fern is a light feeder and too much fertilizer may damage it. Use a regular houseplant fertilizer sparingly, using a solution diluted to half strength, or use an organic fish emulsion fertilizer. Remember to always follow the directions on the fertilizer of your choice. Dust the fronds occasionally to prevent dust buildup. Dust often attracts mites or other pests. Hold the fern over the sink and clean the fronds with a light spray, or hold the plant carefully and dip the fronds into a tub or sink. Remember: always use lukewarm water.
