Description
Gardeners wait all winter for the first signs of spring in the form of early season flowers. Ipheion uniflorum, The Starry Nights Ipheion Mixture, will herald the approach of months of fun playing in the dirt and enjoying the fruits of that labor. Spring starflower plants form charming little dense clumps of perennial flowers to chase the winter doldrums away.
These sweetly scented, charming flowers will yield a shades-of-blue carpet with intermittent marble-white twinkles that last up to four weeks in the garden once they are established. It is also a good naturalizer in full sun and is lovely planted in lawns (with later mowing.)
Very easy to grow in a sunny or lightly shaded area; tolerant of many soil conditions. Foliage goes dormant in the summer, but the leaves return in the cooler temperatures of fall. Great for edging along a walkway or as an underplanting beneath trees or roses. Will naturalize to form beautiful colonies over time.
Bee-loved and deer and rodent resistant.
