Description
The huge camellia-like bloom of this Giant Darwin Hybrid tulip is primrose-yellow with fine red petal edges, occasional pale raspberry striations, feathered green sepals and a steel-blue, interior starburst. Meaning "Dawn" or "Daybreak" in Japanese, it has a faint, sweet fragrance. Lush and graceful, it is simply a gorgeous tulip - perhaps even more impressive in person than in the photos. Featured prominently at the 2019 Bulb Show at the Botanic Garden of Smith College, and rightly so!
Tulips perform best when planted in full sun in easy-to-work, well-drained soils. Deadhead only, allow foliage to die back naturally while next year's bloom is being developed.
