Description
An upright Bellflower with pretty, medium to dark purple flowers along its stems, often blooming upward facing before turning downward in the traditional bell form. Attractive, heart-shaped foliage. 3' tall.
One of the best features of this plant is that it tolerates considerable neglect, which is exactly what it gets in my garden. It's very robust and is adaptable to many soil types and light conditions, and will bloom even in dry shade (which is where I grow it). It gets zero attention from me but comes back every year. Rarely bothered by deer or rabbits. It spreads to form lovely, dense colonies, but can be a bit of a thug in optimum conditions. Deadhead to curb self-seeding and to promote rebloom.
