Calling all Volunteers!!!
As you may have heard, the Lancaster Garden Club’s Annual Plant sale is going online! The sale will begin May 2nd and continue through May 31st. Like in years past, the success of the plant sale really depends on the public getting the best plants in the best condition, and THAT magic happens because of YOU and all your hard work as Garden Club Volunteers.
Because of social distancing guidelines and our efforts to maintain safety for our volunteers and our customers, we’ve had to tweak some things this year. This link, Garden Sale Volunteer Sign Up, will send you to a website called SignUps.com which makes the sign up process easy and helps us stay organized. Don’t worry, it looks like Sam needs A LOT of help, but really she’s just giving you A LOT of options. The plants will be posted online in a rolling fashion, so there won’t ever (hopefully) be a ton of plants at Sam’s house at once.
There is something for everyone this year. As usual, plants will need to be potted, identified and labeled. Not as usual, we will also need someone to take pictures and research information to place on the website. All sales will be online. As people purchase plants online, orders will be filled by an “order picker” and placed in a pick up box for customers, which will be monitored until it is picked up.
Here are the different opportunities we have available this year:
- Driveway Crew - Not more than one person can work in my driveway (with Sam keeping safe distance at times) per time slot. Masks will be provided if you don't have one. Handwashing is encouraged and provided if needed inside my house. Every day will be different - watering, potting, making plants pretty, photos, marking, identification, etc. Work as much or as little as you want/need per day.
- Online Help - Research of plants for photos and descriptions to be uploaded onto website - good organization and detail orientation a must. Will work with Rebekah (and Sam)
- Order Fulfillment
-
- Pickup Watch - You will facilitate the pickup of orders at a location to be determined. Customers will be directed to choose a pick up time when checking out. Some days and times may have more pick up times than others. Your task will be to stay with the orders, make sure they get picked up, and return any orphaned orders to Sam’s driveway.
- Order Pulls – You will review any new orders, pack them into boxes and transport them to the pickup location.
Do you have time for helping out? Check the sign up link – there is something to do pretty much everyday for the next month. Email plantsale@lancastergardenclub.net for more information.
