Go to Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. for the same message and links.  And you can also go directly to National Garden Clubs, Inc. for their messages and the program on Olmsted.  Susan Sussman mentioned this at Sunday night's meeting.  Sue Billings

April 26, 2022 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted, renowned conservationist and landscape architect credited with having created public parks providing city dwellers “a sense of enlarged freedom,” being restorative in nature and connecting communities. I'm delighted to share a video created by historian Kirk Brown to commemorate Olmsted's birthday. Kirk entertains and educates garden clubs members and history lovers with his energetic and passionate, horticulturally related presentations.
This is the first of a President's series planned for the next year that will entertain and educate National Garden Club members. This video will be available until May 11. You're welcome to share the link with your clubs until then. Enjoy!

    Sunday June 4th

Can we count on you on Sunday June 4th?  It's the Lancaster Garden Club's 2nd Garden Clean Up Day, 9:00-12:00.  Join friends, neighbors and other members of the community to help get the public gardens in town spruced up for spring!  No special gardening skills needed, just a willingness to make the world a little nicer place, one garden at a time.  Weather is suppose to co-operate with just some clouds in the morning, so not even warm for the garden work.

Check in with the Clean Up Coordinator at the Thayer Memorial Library parking lot any time between 9 a.m. and noon on Sunday, June  4th and we'll let you know where help is needed most. Bring gloves or gardening tools if you have them - we'll have extras to share.

For more information contact Sue at 978-365-5716 or reply to this email.

    Dear Garden Club Members,

It's now 21/2 weeks until the club's plant sale, Saturday, May 23th.   Hours this year are 8:00-9:00 members only, 9:00-2:00 open to the public.

It has been a long, cold winter and finally spring has happened to us this last week.  Plants have started popping up all over the place and the spring bulbs are blooming.  So please get those shovels and pots out and start picking your contributions for our sale.  If they can be potted this week and weekend they will have a chance to recover and look decent for our sale.

As you know, the plant sale is our major fundraiser for the year.  Proceeds help to pay for our civic projects, program speakers, conservation efforts and much more, so the plant sale benefits garden club members and the community alike.  The club needs your help, and it needs it now.

We need to let you know that our fearless, knowledgeable and well organized leader has had a mishap that will prevent her from participating in any direct way with the sale this year.  Our hopes and prayers are for a quick and fast recovery for her.

Visit our event page to find a list of ways you can volunteer or donate.  Please find a way to contribute.  Just do a return reply to Sue.  Any problems, questions, issues please call Sue or Sam.  It’s the “S Team” on duty this year.

    Many thanks,

    Sam, Sue, and Corinne
