<Hello Fellow Gardeners,

When I am asked which of the four seasons, I like the most, I normally answer Fall, followed closely by Spring.  Fall is a time to sit back and enjoy the rewards of all our hard work, read a book, have hot chocolate; and now we get to take it easy and just... WHAT?!? No way!  There is so much more to be done.  We are not the grasshopper happily jumping around, we are the hard-working ant, no, we are an ant army! Rolling up our sweatshirt sleeves (my choice is a plaid button up) and get clean up going.  However, there is more than cleaning to do...

Preparing Your Garden for Winter:  It's that time of year again!  Time to rake, cut back, weed, divide, clear debris, mulch, overwinter, prepare new beds, plant bulbs, and protect your tender evergreens and newer plantings from winter hazards.  In other words - another beautiful autumn in New England!

Gretel Anspach is a Trustee of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, a Lifetime Master Gardener with the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association, and a recently retired systems engineer for Raytheon.  She won the MMGA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Gretel established and maintains a 20,000 square foot food production garden that has provided fresh produce to the Marlboro and Maynard Food Pantries for the last ten years.  Her primary interest and focus are always on the science behind horticulture.

We are very excited about this program, and I hope you will be as well.
